Where you are standing

For what you see and hear depends a good deal on where you are standing: it also depends on what sort of person you are. (from The Magician’s Nephew by C S Lewis)

    • Well, I see and hear a good many things on the bus, and then I try to be the sort of person who doesn’t laugh out loud at undergraduates.

  1. Wow–great quote from a great book! Somebody ought to teach that in a class sometime. 😉

And some of us geekier types might be really thrilled to hear news you might think is boring–like the fun stuff you are reading for class. And one more and–do I remember right that Declan Kiberd is visiting BC sometime this year. Okay, this one is really final–if you have access to a digital copy of his last(?) lecture there “John Henry Newman and the Bonfire of the Humanities” that you can pirate and send to Abilene that would be really cool.

Hope you are having a blast!
